The short version

You can browse this whole website, read the menu and find our hours without telling us anything about yourself. If you write to us, join the mailing list or make an account, we keep what you send us so we can answer you. We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not hand it to anyone who wants to advertise at you.

What we collect, and when

When you just look around

Our web server keeps a routine log of visits: the page requested, the time, your browser type and your IP address. Every website does this and it is how the server works at all. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you.

When you fill in a form

Our contact and enquiry forms ask for your name, your email address, and whatever message you choose to write. If a form asks for a phone number or a date, that is because we need it to call you back or hold a table. What you type is what we get. Nothing more is collected in the background.

When you join the mailing list

We keep your email address, your name if you gave it, and a record of which emails you opened, so we are not sending the same thing twice to someone who never wanted it. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that works immediately.

When you create an account

We keep your username, your email address and a scrambled version of your password. We cannot read your password, and neither can anyone else who works here.

Who else can see it

Five, and we would rather name them than call them partners.

• Namecheap runs the servers this website and its email live on, so your message physically sits on their machines.
• Google Analytics tells us how many people visited and which pages they read, and Google receives that visit data. It is switched off until you accept it, and it never receives your name or your message.
• hCaptcha checks that a form is being filled in by a person and not a bot. It sees your IP address and some browser details when you use a form. It does not see what you typed.
• Trustindex displays our Google reviews, which means your browser fetches those reviews and the reviewers’ photos from Google when a page showing them loads.
• Google Maps is embedded where we show you how to find us, so Google sees your IP address on those pages.
• Our own email, sent through the same web host, is how a form gets to the kitchen.

Our mailing list runs on software installed on our own website rather than an outside marketing company, so your address stays with us. We do not run advertising pixels, and there is no ad network on this site.

Cookies

Analytics is off by default. The first time you arrive, a small notice asks whether we may count your visit, and Google Analytics stores nothing on your device unless you choose Accept. Choosing No thanks is a real no, and we remember either answer for twelve months so we are not asking every time.

Separately, the site sets a couple of working cookies that have nothing to do with tracking: one to keep you logged in if you have an account, and one to remember your choice above. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time, and blocking them will not stop you reading the menu.

Where AI comes into it

Some of the writing on this website was drafted with the help of AI tools and then read and edited by a person before it went up. Where a photograph on this site was generated by AI rather than taken in our kitchen, we label it on the page it appears on.

What we do not do: nothing you send us through a form, an account or the mailing list is fed into an AI service, and no automated system makes decisions about you.

How long we keep things

• Form messages: two years, so we can look back at a conversation.
• Mailing list: until you unsubscribe, and we remember the unsubscribe itself so we do not add you back by mistake.
• Accounts: until you ask us to close it.
• Server logs: a rolling few weeks, then they are overwritten.

What you can ask us to do

You can ask for a copy of what we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected]. We will answer within thirty days, and we will not make you explain why.

Children

This site is meant for adults ordering food and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.

If this changes

We will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is a significant one, such as a new company receiving your information, we will say so plainly here rather than quietly editing a line.
